Abdominoplasty surgery, more commonly known as a tummy tuck, is a procedure for people concerned about the shape of their stomach.
The abdomen is where fat accumulates the most and ultimately, individuals are left with stubborn folds of fat that are unresponsive to diet and exercise. Fortunately, the board-certified surgeons at CG Cosmetic have experience performing abdominoplasty surgery at their state of the art facility located in Miami, Florida.
CG Cosmetic offers free consultations to those considering a procedure at their facility.
During this consultation, surgeons will explain the procedure, risks, expectations, and recovery time.
The first step in a tummy tuck requires surgeons to make an incision across the abdomen.
Depending on the amount of fat that needs to be removed, the size of the incision will vary. Doctors will work alongside patients to choose an incision site that can be easily concealed. The surgeons then separate the abdominal skin, cut it from the navel, and reposition the stomach muscles underneath. Lastly, the skin is stretched, reattached, and a new hole is created for the navel.
Since recovery time for this particular surgery is extensive, surgeons prepare patients for what to expect.
After surgery, patients may be required to stay overnight at the facility. In addition, patients are provided with medication and compression bandages in order to control pain and swelling. Stitches will be removed one week after surgery, at which time patients can begin a light exercise regimen. Strenuous exercise, however, should be avoided for six weeks.
Most patients agree that this lengthy recovery period is a small price to pay for a flatter abdomen.
Candidates for the surgery most often include those who have experienced massive weight loss, have had a recent pregnancy, and those who have been affected by aging. The surgeons at our Miami location evaluate patients extensively before recommending surgery in order to ensure they meet certain basic requirements.
